A free Halloween treasure hunt
The Magic Code, made by a Franklin dad.
Five rhyming clues, hidden around your house, lead your kids to the treasure. At each clue they solve a little math on the code sheet, and the answers crack the code that unlocks the last clue. The last clue leads to the treats.
It uses spots most homes have (a pillow, a shoe, the kitchen table, a couch cushion, a closet floor) and one children's code sheet the kids solve together, adding and subtracting within 20. The PDF prints on plain paper, and black and white is fine. It includes a grown-up guide that says where to hide each card, the clue cards to cut out, the code sheet and a certificate for the end.
Getting it ready
- Print every page and cut out the clue cards along the dashed lines. Keep the code sheet whole for the kids to write on.
- Hide each card and the treasure where page 1 says. Page 1 is the grown-up guide, so keep it away from the kids.
- Hand over Clue 1 and let the riddles lead the way.
Want one for your own house? HideQuest writes the riddles for the spots you choose and your kids' ages. Make your own treasure hunt. Your first hunts are free.
